Report: Intel to offer web TV

The Wall Street Journal reported talks with chip giant telecommunications companies to offer packages online channels
Package of 50 channels?
Intel enters the TV business? The Wall Street Journal reports that chip giant is working on an Internet TV service that it hopes to offer American consumers. The report said that in recent months Intel offers telecommunication companies plan to create a "virtual cable operator" providing American television channels to be broadcast over the network, channel packages offer resemble the reality of cable and satellite companies.Broadcasts will use Intel's technology and the converter it would produce. The company aims to launch the service by the end of 2012.
The new initiative will be a significant way Intel's change - which specializes in chips and hardware, and certainly not content, but will come in line with statements made by CEO Paul Otellini, the company's need for expansion to other areas across the computing industry. Not clear how easy it is for Intel to go into television broadcasting, as its costs are high, and rising. Wall Street Journal estimates that the company try to differentiate itself by offering packages channels smaller and cheaper (50 vs. 150, for example) - but it is likely that telecommunications companies oppose such an initiative and would prefer to continue to sell large packages of profitability more for them. Another problem may be insufficient bandwidth to transmit the broadcasts in an appropriate manner at all times to all who want it, but Intel Insiders claim was not worried that - because of its belief that technicians are able to ensure good picture quality even on an external infrastructure.
Recently considered a number of technology and electronics companies in any way to enter the broadcast and video services network, including Sony Google, Apple and Microsoft. None of them brought the subject to significant advances, but a number of senior communications companies believe the virtual cable operators can reach the market within two or three years.
